Designed by Guild Architects for a relaxed family life it is the green landscape around the house and its gorgeous garden that become the key components of the residence. Built to encourage interaction between family members an outdoor lifestyle and harmony with nature this is a home that moves away from the urban trend of sterile interiors.
On the inside the picture changes dramatically with the more inviting oak ceiling and floors creating a relaxing atmosphere for the entire family while a cozy upholstered nook next to the fireplace and the large dining area create a generous social zone. A perfect contemporary hangout full of light!
Designed by Oleg Drozdov the house is broadly divided into three individual units with each one having its own series of balconies and private terraces that melt into the common social zone at the heart of it all. The central living zone flows into the semi-open terrace and pool area that overlooks the generous garden outside. This ingeniously crafted terrace allows the homeowners to enjoy ‘outdoor living’ throughout the year and allows the adults in the house to keep an eye on the kids as they spend time in the garden.
Much of the original silhouette of the house was retained and given a modern upgrade with the reflecting pond a fabulous bridge and the brise soleil creating a stunning entrance. This image of tranquility is further enhanced as artificial lighting takes over after sunset with the illumination fashioning an atmosphere of inviting warmth.
The kitchen island itself moves away from the mundane with its unique design and the breakfast bar offers further opportunity for the entire family to come together each morning. The living area kitchen and dining area are connected with the closed rear yard / outdoor living zone that features plush seating.
Designed by paints a striking picture with its stone and glass lower level and a top level that is draped in wood. Clean straight lines and minimal aesthetics create a sense of refinement throughout the family residence with glass walls blurring the line between the interior and the garden.
A series of skylights courtyards and gardens along with the photovoltaic panels ensure that the home has a minimal carbon footprint by cutting down its dependence on artificial energy. Built to last the test of time a tight budget and time constraint forced the architects to come up with innovative solutions that cut back both on construction time and cost. The structure of the house itself acts as a pergola for the outdoor dining and barbeque area even as the garden and the small pool become an extension of the interior.
